Russian President Vladimir Putin said that fighting in eastern Ukraine has decreased considerably since the ceasefire came into force at the weekend. Speaking at a joint news conference with the Hungarian Prime Minister, Mr Putin called for an orderly retreat of Ukrainian troops from the town of Debaltseve, where they are encircled by pro-Russian rebels. He said that fighters who would surrender their weapons, they will have to be let to go home, to their families. Heavy fighting has been reported in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the key town of Debaltseve.
